About the event
Behind every mask is a story.
Domestic violence does not always look the way we expect. A survivor may smile, go to work, attend school, care for their children, and appear to have everything under control—all while experiencing fear, pain, isolation, or abuse behind closed doors.
This October, Safehope invites our community to explore the hidden realities of domestic violence through “UnMasking Domestic Violence,” our 2026 Domestic Violence Awareness Month art project.
Throughout the month, Safehope will host small, welcoming mask-making gatherings where survivors and community members will have the opportunity to create a mask representing the emotions and experiences that can exist beneath the surface of abuse.
